#10 Pinspiration: Fishtail Braid

For my 2012 list of goals I wanted to learn how to do a fishtail braid.  I found a picture tutorial on Pinterest and went for it.

Here are the results!

Mini fishtail combined with side-pony fishtail.

First: do the mini fishtail with your front bangs/hair, then incorporate it into the larger braid.

Second: put a bobby pin through the hair elastic in the mini-fishtail to secure it.

Simple and fresh!

I am converted! I LOVE the look of the fishtail braid, and it also stayed in longer without as many wispy hairs coming loose. I also think that the smaller sections your take, the better the braided texture turns out. My hair was wet from showering (towel dried) when I did my braids. I think it is a lot easier to control the hair when it is at least somewhat wet.

I love wearing braids because they keep my hair off of my face and out of the way. They are very popular right now, and also add a lot of visual interest to your look. This braid looks complicated, but is actually very easy when you figure it out.

Good luck and send me some pictures if you try it!
